Don't forget these easy steps to fight global warming, and increase pirate populations in your area:

Speak with/write to the government to increase the awareness of global warming (a.k.a. pirate population reduction…or PPR).

Use fuel efficient vehicles.

Drive smart, drive less.

Buy energy efficient appliances.

Replace your light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs.

Weatherize your home or apartment.

Choose renewable energy.

Find gold and bury it all over the world.

Wow, it's been a couple of days now without a new GinBlogPost (tm)!

So, what' happened? What's new?

Did she fly to Chicago to spend her birthday watching old movies at the Music Box Theater?

Is she in Gainsville getting her MFA?

Was she struck by lightning while holding a GURPS manual, a Fiend Folio, and a bootleg VHS of Jem and the Holograms, and thereby translated into an alternate dimension and granted superpowers? Is she, at this very moment, in mortal peril from a team of Cybernetic Assassins and Mutant Man-Hunters? Is she in Universe-616-1a(c) para 42, flying into combat against the Forces of Evil with LASERBEAMS COMING OUT OF HER EYES?!!??

MAN, that'd be cool.

Hmm. . . google is my friend! Looks like the Music Box Theater is still in business! I used to hang out there a lot back in the early '80s.

They're not doing the 3-double features-per-week any more, but they do have a boatload of classic, new, and foreign films on the schedule.

Hmm, looks like the Naro theater in Norfolk is still open, also. (http://www.narocinema.com/)

Wow, what would it be like to live in a town with cool movie theater again?

"I am NOT a committee!"

Thank you Rob!I'll post an update on my advancing decrepitude later on tonight, I guess...

For now, I am Cimmerian. I cannot party. Party for me.

Decrepitude? I'm looking forward to a post entitled "GREAT NEWS! w00t!"

In re. Cimmerian, have you seen the R E Howard reprints coming out? They're reprinting his Conan stories in original publication order.

I think it's called "The coming of Conan."

the jax library has Vol. 1, which has not only the nifty stories, but also poetry, hand-drawn maps, some rough drafts and story treatments, and REH's history of the hyborian age outline.

Interesting to see the relationship between Howard and Lovecraft -- i didn't know they were friends, and put references to each other's work in their stories.

(I must admit, much of my idea of Conan comes from later sources such as Lin Carter, Marvel, and Dino De Laurentiis. My loss.)

The book is cool stuff if you're a barbarian geek. Or a cthulu geek.

Or maybe even a Red Sonja geek.

Aw, c'mon!

Are you _still_ cimmerian?

Let's get this party started!
